PS1 Memory Card does not format or detect

My PS2 game isn't starting but I don't have a memory card

I turn the ps2 off, switch the slot I put the memory card in, and it never does work, therefore I can't save on those games BR>BR>So, who's to

ps2 slot Just put the memory card with the save your using in the first slot and dont even bother with the second slot B
